CHARLIE SHEEN HIV-positive Rumours

CHARLIE SHEEN has been widely praised today for confronting rumours that he is HIV-positive, but Heather Locklear's well-intended post has not been met with universal agreement.

The former Two And A Half Men actor told Matt Lauer on The Today Show that he was diagnosed four years ago and, after effective treatment, has an undetectable level of the virus in his bloodstream - the best possible position for a positive person to be in.
Various celebrities have come out in support of Sheen but Locklear's tribute on Instagram has been criticised for its tone.

My heart hurts. Prayers for Charlie and his family,” she captioned a photo of herself and Sheen on Instagram.

Locklear, 54, and Sheen co-starred on several seasons of “Spin City” (which ran from 1996 to 2002) and are longtime friends.

he 50-year-old sat down with Matt Lauer for a live interview on “Today” early Tuesday to confirm his HIV-positive status.

“It started with what I thought based on this series of cluster headaches and insane migraines and sweating the bed completely drenched, two, three nights in a row, that I was emergency hospitalized,” he explained.

“I thought I had a brain tumor. I thought it was over. After a battery of tests and spinal taps and all that crap, they walked in the room and said, boom, here’s what’s going on. It’s a hard three letters to absorb, you know. It’s — it’s a turning point in one’s life.”

The actress reached out to the 50-year-old star on social media ahead of his announcement that he is HIV positive.

Sharing a photo of the pair together on Instagram, Locklear wrote: “My heart hurts. Prayers for Charlie and his family.”

Just a few hours later, her former Spin City co-star appeared on NBC’s Today Show to confirm speculation that he was suffering from HIV.

Speaking in an interview with Matt Lauer, he said: “I'm here to admit that I am in fact HIV positive."

Sheen went on to say that he was not “entirely sure” how he had contracted the disease and said that he had “not knowingly” passed it on to anyone.

He said: “I always led with condoms and honesty when it came to my condition.”

The star went on to tell Lauer that former wives Denise Richards and Brooke Mueller were aware of his diagnosis.

The Anger Management actor has faced overwhelming support on Twitter following the announcement.
